Pogs were essentially Pokemon before the latter came out. Collect, trade and play against your friends.

    X, fifth (and last) wave.

This actually explains why I neither identify with X (I was a bit too late) not with Y (I was too early).

Yep! People born between 1977 and 1981 and between 1961 and 1964 often don't know what their generation is, the younger think they are Y and the older that they are Baby Boomer.

The first time I saw Star Wars, it was at a friend of my parent's, and it was on Betamax.

The whole thing was kind of repeated nowadays with the high density video disc format wars. (BluRay won because Sony owned the rights to a lot of movies and the other format couldn't compete even if it was cheaper.)

As for microwaves, my parents refused to get one until as adults, we all pitched in and bought them one. Now they can't live with one.
Pretty convenient. I had a rotary dial phone, and thought touch-tone was the coolest thing ever. Cable TV was exotic; I think my parents still use a roof antenna, although they might have broken down and gotten a dish. I'm not sure.

Pokemon = CCG, Collectible Card Game.

Magic: The Gathering came first, then Pokemon hit a younger demographic and that was that.

I don't even know what Pogs are/were!! haha. They were apparently *after* my time.

Dedicated anime series and an ongoing collection of top tier videogames certainly didn't hurt the franchise either.

I saw Star Wars in the theater, in a time when cars all had carburetors and starting one could be something of an art form.
