    No, we have a handful of cultures in the past and today that were matrilocal or matrilinear, but a true matriarchy is not known to have existed.

    I guess I have a hard time seeing victimization through matrilinear/matrilocal orientation. Before we go any further, we should establish a consensus on victim and non-victim.
