    Default The Snob Thread! =)

how many snobs are out there on TypeC? you might be a snob if
    - you like to be surrounded by things that are beautiful and elegant
    - you have low tolerance for things that are distasteful or offputting
    - you detest any sort of physical labor and would much rather pay someone else to do it
    - you always like to look your best and feel sexy and chic, even if you're alone
    - you enjoy excessively pampering yourself
    - you relate well to people with much higher income than you
    - you don't like to be around people who don't display high self esteem and integrity (sorta like being classist, but like in a positive way that evaluates people on a character basis rather than a material/status one)
    - you will not date anyone who does not take excellent care of themselves, have good manners and have a sexy, graceful demeanor
    - you have well developed tastes for wine, tea or various foods
    - you enjoy opera, classical music and baroque
    - you are seldom offended, but easily disgusted

Doesn't being eurotrash make me a snob by definition?

Seriously, that list is very different from how I would use term "snob". But that might be because there are many different types.

A snob is someone who adopts the worldview of snobbery — that some people are inherently inferior to him or her for any one of a variety of reasons, including real or supposed intellect, wealth, education, ancestry, taste, beauty, et cetera. Often, the form of snobbery reflects the snob's personal attributes. For example, a common snobbery of the affluent is the belief that wealth is either the cause or result of superiority, or both, and a common snobbery of the physically attractive is that beauty is paramount.
    1: British : cobbler
    2
: one who blatantly imitates, fawningly admires, or vulgarly seeks association with those regarded as social superiors
    3
a : one who tends to rebuff, avoid, or ignore those regarded as inferior b : one who has an offensive air of superiority in matters of knowledge or taste
Your list sounds like a description of Oscar Wildish dandyism (which is not the same thing as snobism) with a slightly libertarian tinted appreciation for ambitious people with money and high self esteem added on top. But a starving artist leftist bohemian intellectual who rejects just about everything you just listed might be just as much of a snob. He or she would feel superior to you and consider your values shallow and unsubstancial. That sense of superiority too would be snobbism when that person assumes a superiority of their own life style and we assume that snobbism as the word is used today is more about feeling superior than it is about appreciating beautiful antique furniture or designer cloths.

I intend to enjoy being a snob... until it becomes commonplace.

    I'm obviously a snob.

However, I'm not offended by this list - merely disgusted by how low-class, tasteless and judgmental you are. Now get off the persian rug lying outside my gate and go grovel in a Delhi slum.

    let's add a few more
    - you speak in a strong, authoritative voice and vary your pitch a lot (men)
    - or speak in a lower, soultry voice and drop your pitch at the end of sentences (women)
    - people have told you your laugh is very pretentious sounding
    - you see a lot of yourself in Lucille Bluth from Arrested Development
    - your ideal lifestyle requires a lot of money
    - you detest being overly busy
