    Default Things you just don't get

    So, It's a really general thread so you can interpret the title in whatever way you want and share something 'you don't get' wether you actually 'dont get it' or just don't in the sense of disagreement. Wether it's a vague idea or something you have to face everyday, or the answer to universe and everything.

    I don't get ... religious arguments about 'other faiths" or religious groups that have 'lost their way'. How the hell do they know which "way" is supposed to be "the will of god" in the first place. And isn't the fact that EVERY single religious group says the exact same thing about most if not all other groups sort of is a big give away?

    I don't get ... 'reverse psychology', I mean, sure i understand the simplicity of the term and so on but it doesn't make any sense, there's nothing reverse about it, it's psychology

    I don't get... the idiom "all but"
    as in "they all but killed him" because it's actually often used in situations when someone actually DID the thing, so they just "all-ed" the guy there's no "but" about it, and there's generally no point in making it into an euphemism either.

    edit: let's add a small rule , you have to add a thing you don't get or at least use the 'i don't get' term in your answer!

    Open = clockwise
    Close = counter-clockwise

    Why?

    I might have this backwards but it's not intuitive, just memory work.

    Its more than just memory. Almost every thing we learn is in right to left progressive manner, toilets even flush this way... reading... opening something, time...etc.

    This makes sense to me. To the right to progress, to the left to digress.

    This thread is going to drive me crazy because I am just going to want to explain everything.

    Except Facebook, I completely agree about that. It is retarded.

    The popularity of these things:

    Oh, and homophobes and people who are against masturbation. They're weird.
    I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower. The TV was obviously on. I used to fly myself and I said, "There's one terrible pilot."

    I don't get a woman who puts a love letter of her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend on the bathroom wall of their house.

    I don't get the concept of "being in fashion". I get the concept of dressing nicely and attractively or trying to express who you are with your clothes but "being in fashion"? Nope.

    I dont get...

    ...That the people who're first to riot at the demos are always those which will rely on the police the most otherwise.

    ...The profile given to homosexuality, particularly by heterosexuals, whether they have families or not.

    ...The behaviour of most evangelists or propagandists or even popularisers of a particular idea, most of the time they are the single worst advertisement for what they're seeking to prompt and usually do a good job in detering potential supporters.

    ...That the public in the UK, particularly in England, will vote consistently against their own material interests.

    ...That people seek demanding roles for themselves, as bosses, parents, politicians, public figures, then complain afterwards about the same demands which where either explicit or very easily anticipated before hand.

    ...That great movies like The Green Zone can highlight the ease with which powerful countries can wage wars with impunity on a false premise but the public in the same countries will support a repeat performance or havent considered creating a means of preventing it happening again.

    ...How quickly critical thinking went out of fashion, even before the sixties, and turned into something else, its like inverse alchemy intellecutals transformed gold into base metals.

    ...That music, movies or TV shows from when I was a kid or even a teenager are being produced labelled as classic, retro or old school.

    ...That there's been nothing original enough since the mid-ninties to make the retro-focus and nostalgia unnecessary.

    ...That there's so, so many music and film producers and clothing manufacturers whose choosen target market is unmistakeably an older children or adolescent market when that market sure should not be one with a disposable income to afford their produce.

    ...That despite being glorified casinos which are run with tax payers money the public, in the UK at least, still consider the bankers claims to untaxed incomes more legitimate than the claims of either families dependent on either benefits or public services employees to a living.

    I just don't get people who never question the status quo.
    I just don't get people who buy things they cannot afford (and pay exorbitant interest on top of it)
    I just don't get why we have to endure advertising when we pay for cable TV and movies.
    Type 6w5 sp/so/sx I think..I have not fully explored this and just discovered it.
