I change mine VERY often so it's not useful trying to remember me by my avatar.

I could never not recognize you. You're my English friend!

    Hm, cultural misunderstanding
That brings me to an other point: it would so often be useful to know whether a person in American, Asian, African, Australian or European. Just as not to have misunderstandings like these

Yes, I'd rather stay away from race, but nationality would be helpful just to have an understanding of the cultural frame someone is coming from... and even helps with knowing time zone and when they might be on.

INTPc actually has a geographical map you can stick your virtual thumbtack in... I wonder what the possibility is of getting something similar here.

“Pleasure to me is wonder—the unexplored, the unexpected, the thing that is hidden and the changeless thing that lurks behind superficial mutability. To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.” ~ H.P. Lovecraft

I sometimes play online Microsoft Backgammon and I like the fact that the software tells me what language the person speaks.
It's not too helpful if it's English, but I've played with people who speak Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, Greek, and others. It's kind of neat to know I'm playing with people from all over the world.

On this forum, it's helpful to know what country someone lives in or what time zone they're in so we can guess that they're probably not going to respond tonight since it's 3 AM their time!

By "older man" you of course mean "God on earth", right?
Why do we always come here?

    I guess we'll never know.
