So, is there a list of social norms yet?

    Good point. I adduce myself.

To the thread, generally: hypersensitivity to challenges of or suggested alternatives to one's type baffle me. As an extension of "Sticks and stones," how could one person's opinion -- the use of a figuration, no less -- have any effect on another's sense of identity?

Maybe as an ENTJ that's not really a problem for you, but having been on the receiving end of such unrequested comments, I can say that it feels as though that person is telling me I don't even know myself. It's kind of an insult.

It's totally different if I ask for opinions because I'm not sure.

I know another site where questioning a person's type - unsolicited - is strictly against the rules.

As an ESFJ, we. . . oh, wait. I am the only male ESFJ on earth. Anyway, from the little I've seen today, the extended group overall is quite heterogeneous. I can't make any useful generalizations. There is a smaller group of frequent and voluminous posters, though. I imagine that clique-ish pervades in some cases (but it seems to cut across types, which reduces the impact somewhat). There doesn't seem to be much in the way of anti-religious bias. More like a general lack of religiosity (and I have to be included in that number). It makes for a fun time for someone like me. I enjoy being around people who are different from myself. In fact, I already have gotten into some political discussions from some people I would consider to be pretty far left economically (and I was a Film major in college!). If there are biases, they probably spring from reinforcement from being on here all the time and discussing/deducing types, as opposed to noticing them in real-world situations. Just my impressions thus far.

P.S. Can you tell that I love parentheses? If I typed grammatically the way I reasoned out long, involved thoughts in my head, it would look more like algebra than English.

P.P.S. Is a self pic now considered bad form as an avatar?

Who cares? Just do what you want and if people don't want to see it they can turn avatars off.

I happen to like self-pics for avatars.

    Other people don't.

    Several people here have them.

Maybe we should have a poll.

I like them, too. (Even though I don't plan on putting my own up.)
