I haven't been officially diagnosed, but it's highly likely that I would be due to my research on the subject. My mother also has bipolar disorder. I also have anxiety and certain obsessive-compulsive tendencies.

I am officially diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, however, and that was by a medical professional. And with that, I also have some ADD tendencies.

This might sound odd, but as far as Apsie's I have dealt with (not a ton of them, but definitely a few... and I am not including wildcat in this because I forget whether he confirmed having AS), you've been the most socially adjusted (in a positive sense) of the lot.

    So gratz on that.

Perhaps this is another social norm around here. NFs aren't allowed to be as critical towards other members that NTs would get a pass for without putting lots of qualifiers and hedgers into the criticism. I know I try to do that so people won't think I'm just being mean. <---- See?
Relationships have normal ebbs and flows. They do not automatically get better and better when the participants learn more and more about each other. Instead, the participants have to work through the tensions of the relationship (the dialectic) while they learn and group themselves and a parties in a relationships. At times the relationships is very open and sharing. Other time, one or both parties to the relationship need their space, or have other concerns, and the relationship is less open. The theory posits that these cycles occur throughout the life of the relationship as the persons try to balance their needs for privacy and open relationship.

The diagnosis is the difficult part for me. How can you put your finger exactly on what a person has? We had our 6 year old evaluated last year and the diagnosis was possibly Bipolar disorder or possibly depression and without a doubt anxiety. Honestly no one really knows probably because he's too young to properly diagnose. Learning disorder and aspergers has been ruled out and we aren't sure if he has ADD or not. The ADD meds had horrible side effects!

    Sorry for the derailment.

But of course, socially adjusted on the Internet is a whole different ballgame from socially adjusted in the physical world.

Zergling... I misunderstood individual. One who strives to understand others yet is so introverted and intelligent he misses out on the playful side of life. He looks at everything from a thinking perspective, and only at surfaces and misses out on hidden innuendos, and genuine character traits. He forms opinions and ideas quickly and easily yet once he has made his mind up on something he is not easily persuaded to have a different point of view. He may agree to disagree to save peace, but he holds his opinions close to him. He will not waste his time with fluffiness and cannot see beyond that if you yourself project such a persona.

that seems rather harsh, but it is who he is, and how he is.

Would anyone be interested in analyzing me?

I'll reciprocate (later tonight when I'm off of work...) should any takers arise.

Noel and I share similar taste in music. He really understands that music has deeper meaning than just the lyrics. Like me, he creates his own meaning based on the rhythm of the music. He is also smart enough to know that PC gaming pwns the console!

There was a 3 piece series on the BBC with Stephen Fry (famouse for lots of things eg Blackadder and long time comedy partner of Hugh Laurie - of "House" fame) all about bipolar disorder. It was very interesting, and followed him around as he had the odd "attack"... when working on tv stuff. It was quite compelling and sensitively portrayed.

All well and good, and then the other day a professional psychologist the other day said he watched the whole 3 programmes and believes Stephen Fry has narcissistic personality disorder.. err.. probably.

It's so difficult to diagnose this stuff, even in an adult, even if the conditions are properly distinct and so on. At best they just seem to be a badge for a collection of symptoms in the complicated experience that is the human one.

Still, if you see this series over your side of the pond, watch it, it's well worth it.

iow, people agree on diagnosis about as much as they agree on people's MBTI type.

Was Fry also in V for Vandetta? I am pretty sure I know who you are referring to, and for some reason I thought he was also in that movie.
