    It's a mix for me. For those with very distinctive avatars, I usually remember the avatar though, and with those who have very distinctive user names, I tend to remember the name better. But normally, it's a combination of the two.

    People change their avatar so quickly it's not worth going by that...username is the way I do it. I think I'll start just reading the post and trying to guess who it is...that's a good exercise I'm thinking.

    I look at the avatar first and the name second. I started paying more attention to names when people started being silly with duplicating avatars at INTPC. jyakulis was using my Julian of Norwich avatar briefly, and that was rather disorienting.

    I often don't.
    But when I do, I glance at both...
    sometimes the signature can help me know who has posted without disturbing my scanning of the thread...
    I often don't look at who has posted unless they say something remarkable...

    Username, I sometimes dont know people for a while when they change their usernames.
