I read that those that follow Western astrology get to keep their sign, but those that follow the Eastern branch, change. Western astrology is based off of seasons, and Eastern is based off of the constellations.

I don't give a crap about the Zodiac, but I was surprised to learn this revelation came out of the MN Planetarium Society. They are the group that is working to raise money to build a new planetarium in Minneapolis, since our old one was torn down with the old Central library, and wasn't replaced when the new library was built.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.
The sextile mercury would make the sex-analytical mind aspect even stronger (it does bring in somewhat airy feeling to it too, like you don't take your sexual self-image seriously, you play with it).
More holistically, the Ascendant is what everyone else sees of me, so the Venus/Mercury sextile (Mercury in Sagittarius) indicates someone who is very well-spoken, Mercury sextile ascendant indicates a great skill at communication and intellectual acumen. Venus conjunct Ascendent means I'm too sexy for my shirt ...
What sign is mercury? Mars sextile midheaven and trine north node would mean that your iniative and assertiveness are crucial for your karma and that will show especially through your career.
Which also implies that I have midheaven conjunct the south node.
Synastry and composite techniques, on the other hand, indicate that I have nothing in common with my current girlfriend (ENFP) who is perhaps the best match I have ever found for me in my entire life. MBTI: 1, Astrology: 0.
An argument is two people sharing their ignorance.

But I thought there where sun, moon, rising/ascendent and house signs anyway?
I'm a Taurus but I know that not simply because of the month reference but with reference to the presonality profile associated with Taurus, I'm typical of it, I'm more inclined to consider that aspect rather than the date simply or the fortune telling element. There is a degree of accuracy in the personality aspect because seasons and climate changes and culture and habits at the time of birth can influence both nature and nurture in the course of someones development. Its inexact but then just about every science is.
