    Default Dear Smokers..

    I haven't smoked a cigarette in 9 days now.
After 9 days.. I have noticed a marked improvement in breathing.
    I have more stamina.
I am sleeping better and I am waking up actually feeling a bit refreshed.
I always seem to have money in my pocket.
MY sense of taste has improved.
My sense of smell has improved..
I have to Tell you right now, dear smoker... You have no idea how much you stink..

    YOU SMELL BAD!!!

    Just saying..

and No, I am not some crazy zealot reformed non smoker who is going to go on some holy crusade.

I just thought you might like to know how bad you smell.. Kind of like you would probably want to know you had a snot hanging off your nose or if your fly was down.

Beef Jerky is not a good substitute for cigarettes as Jag suggested to me.
Yes, Beef Jerky is low in fat.. But it's expensive and one 15g piece has 30mg of salt in it, or 25% of your recommended daily intake. Eat the whole package and you are doing way more damage to your heart than the cigarettes were.

Beef Jerky should come with a warning

When my ex quit smoking he chewed a lot of straws.... He always said it wasn't so much smoking that he had a problem with, but the oral fixation... Good luck, I hope you can keep the habit kicked.

You and I have never had any conversation about smoking.

I made a post in the random thought thread, "beef jerky." I was talking to no one, at all. You came along and laughed via rep comment. I made a joke to you later on about beef jerky merely because you thought "beef jerky" was funny the first time. Lol.

No way would I seriously suggest to anyone that they eat beef jerky in lieu of smoking. I am an ex-smoker, myself. My body is very sensitive to salt. I wouldn't eat beef jerky, ham, or any canned/boxed soups since they are so high in sodium. My feet, ankles, and under-eye area would swell up if I ate that crap.

Thanks for all the encouragement people..

But my point is; I want all the lovely smokers, who are really awesome people, to know they smell bad.. You should join me in encouraging them to know the benefits of not smoking

I'm going to take it you had no idea you smelled bad when you were smoking? Seems to be the case with most I've encountered.

My boss was my favorite... His soon to be ex-wife is a non-smoker... And he was a smoker... Except he was trying to convince her that he quit... So he would only smoke when she wasn't around... I was like "You do know that if she's a non-smoker you aren't fooling anyone..." A non smoker can smell it from a mile away!

There are people on this forum that I care about .. some quite a lot.. and one in particular, who smoke.

So really .. knowing how much better I feel only 9 days later, I am just trying to encourage them to feel better as well.

    Because I care..

    Good job, Arclight.

    Yes, smokers smell bad.

But I have to disagree about the beef jerky - beef jerky is high in protein, low in fat, and low in carbs. Salt does not do that much damage to your heart, though it can cause problems if you already have high blood pressure. Smoking is much worse. Don't kid yourself.
