I don't accept the terms of the hypothetical, on account of it's dumb. You said so in your thread title!

Your point seems to be that everybody prefers one kid over the other(s) and it's bullshit if they say they don't. In my experience it's not true, but you won't believe me because you've already said you think it's bullshit if they say that.

Why is it dumb? because you won't let go of a point or people don't agree with you?

it's such an improbable and extreme thing to happen, that's why the moral debate ends up being dumb. The statement places the person in an impossible corner that they can't escape without making bad either way. Both answers result in an evil. Both answers are wrong.

I concede on the grounds that, its probably better left alone.

Nice to see someone else elaborate on that little chestnut.

The progression of vent conversation tonight:

If you had to choose one of your family members to live, and everyone else died... Who would you choose. >>> Is it possible for a mother to choose one child. >>> Discussion about mentally disabled children. >>> If you lived in Germany during the Nazi regime, would you have been a Nazi.

Clearly, this is the pinnacle of intellectual conversation.
“Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people of the world, I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside, inside
them they've all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands maybe.” -Neil Gaiman

I really wish Vent worked for me so I could be a part of this enthralling conversation. D:
