71 wpm with 2 mistakes, slouching as low as humanly possible, music on, in not-trying mode.

45wpm... then again, I was correcting the spelling errors while I was typing. Eye-hand coordination has never been my forte, so this doesn't surprise me.

Are we allowed to go back and correct mistakes or are we just supposed to keep typing?

I automatically correct mistakes as I type, if I catch them. I simply hit backspace and keep typing at pretty much the same speed. I don't think there are any hard and fast rules about making corrections. If I typed without any regard for corrections my time (but also my errors) would be higher.

Wow! Am I out of shape! 71WPM; 1 mistake. (That is usually my composing speed). I was concentrating too hard. I usually type faster while carrying on a conversation with someone (because I'm not thinking about it) however I can only do that when copying and not composing, if I am creating something new and someone talks to me then I end up typing what they are saying. LOL! I've always wondered, can anyone else do that? Type and talk at the same time?

Yeah, this always confused me. I make A LOT of mistakes when I type. Many I notice as I go or pick up on spell check or after proofreading but even then I miss many - so even if I correct as I go, my speed doesn't reflect the effort it takes to make it readable.

My fine motor skills aren't all that flash - sometimes it looks like I'm just mashing the keyboard.

OK so with some correcting I got 40 wpm and 7 mistakes. That's pretty crap for someone who grew up in the computer age.

EDIT: I had to correct this after posting it. *irony*
