Default turning from I to E

so, long story short, I've pretty much believed that I was ISFP since I found out about MBTI. I ended up in drug treatment and was surrounded by 20+ dudes all day every day, and being immersed in that has made me much more comfortable around people.

now when I go to the bookstore, I can't stand sitting where there aren't any people. I love engaging in conversation, especially personal ones. when I'm alone my thoughts can sometimes go negative and I need someone around me to talk to so I feel normal. there are more examples but this is just a few.

is it possible to turn from I to E? gracias

Not sure, you might become conditioned to being constantly immersed in a social environment and then when it goes away you feel like you need it. Although I think introversion/extroversion is more rooted in the brain, as in there are differences in core cognitive processing. This would be hard to change if you could at all. Some believe your type can't be changed at all, not sure I'm on that bandwagon but I don't think true ex/introversion can be changed, maybe just tilted through conditioning or something.

People don't understand the implications of changing type. If type were ultimately changeable, it would mean the eradication of the purpose of genetics. After all, why would we need inherent personality when nurture has the ultimate power?

I'm of the opinion that it is possible but only with some major change in your life. Drug treatment could be enough I guess lol though I don't know enough details to make an educated call.

neither do many people seem to understand the difference about extraversion in general language and mbti types. or that you can be what people call an extravert in general language and still be introvert mbti type.

    edit.
or that there is no ambivert in mbti

I'm the same way and people keep telling me that just means I'm an ENFP.

I grew up with lots of brothers and sisters, so I really like to have people around, it seems weird when I'm totally by myself, but I still feel pretty introverted.

I don't think type changes but you do become more balanced as you get older. As you get older you are more comfortable and more effective in using your nonpreferences.

If you can make lots of people believe what they really need and always wanted is an ipad, you can at the same time turn every I to an E. And if you believe this not possible because of genetics, you are already deeper into the whirlpool of belief than you might now
