That was the movie that made me felt they should remake Wizard of Oz as a movie more like the original story -- not a dorky MGM musical.

I think it would also be cool if Wizard of Oz was remade as an exploitation grind house flick!

Return to Oz is a kick-ass movie! You just can't capture that level of freakiness in a feel-good movie. Part of why it's freaky is that it's not supposed to be that freaky. It's supposed to be cheesy. Yet it's genuinely frightening to children (or at least it was me) it taps into this stripped down sense of being totally alone surrounded by monsters. And it featured a kinda freaky and striking Fairuza Balk as Dorothy.

In post-Potter land, kids movies are too slick and commercial and overproduced. You just can't capture that stripped down slightly wrong 80s vibe anymore.

If you really wanted to watch that, you could easily do a google search and buy it. :rolleyes2:

I agree. His eyes creep me out, but it's not to the point of physical revulsion. Six here, too.

Agreed. Return to Oz hit a note that not many movies can. Had a weird aura to it. I watched the movie as a kid, I'd probably laugh at it today though.
