    1. Totally embarrass yourself.

Yes, I have this covered...the first time I went to a local "open-mic" back in the early 80's....I had been a singer at home and for friends and one evening a friend pushed me up saying "You've just got to do it or you never will!"....so I borrowed a guitar and hit the stage....stared with a song I knew very well and was doing fine until I opened my eyes and looked out at the crowded bar...everyone had stopped talking and was looking right at me....I had not anticipated this and the shock of it made me stumble through the rest of the song and make a quick exit...The bartender asked "what was the matter? you started out great and then it was like you fell apart...." It was alright though....I went on after that to perform many times and quite enjoy it especially on a proper stage where the houselights were so bright I couldn't see anyone.

    2. Ruffle people’s feathers.

I tend to do this when employed by others...when my sense of what is "right" collides with someone else's fixed notions. Not often productive but is is as if I cannot help it.

    3. Follow trends blindly

Only really did this in my teens...

    4. Be willing to fail—doing something you love

Really good at this. Over and over...I'm a self employed craftsman.

    5. Carelessly put yourself at risk

See above. In my 20's I used to like to go to construction sites in the evening and swing out over rivers, lakes or depths on the hook of the crane line which had been left dangling by the operator.

For #3 I'd change it to "Start trends blindly." Other than that I agree with what the article is saying.

Excuse the Ne-leap here, but when I went walking the other day I came across a father and his super cute little daughter playing catch. And by catch, I mean he would throw a stick, and she would gleefully run and pick it up, then bring it back to him. Then he would throw it back again. I had to wonder to myself if he picked the wrong type of pet.

    Anyway, that made me smile.

    1. Totally embarrass yourself.
    That's my hobby!

    2. Ruffle people’s feathers.
I've done that many times. I'm feeling too old for it now.

    3. Follow trends blindly
Nah, I would never do that. It's not that I have my own style, but I only wear things that suit me. Today I went shopping and I tried on some pants. Then I remembered why I decided I should only wear skirts: skinny jeans make me look alike a lollipop, straight pants make me look fat and baggy pants make my legs short. And now I'm only talking about pants!

    4. Be willing to fail—doing something you love
    Trying to find the courage.

    5. Carelessly put yourself at risk
    What for?
I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower. The TV was obviously on. I used to fly myself and I said, "There's one terrible pilot."
