Are you referring to the inflation monster or more like someone actively stealing the money from you?

I would work but not in the job that I'm doing right now.

I would start businesses and well-meaning community projects, hire people to run them, and check in every now and then how things are cooking. There would be a lot of freedom, but I would still feel I'm doing something interesting and productive.

I would quit what I'm doing now.

I'd still want to work as a cop, yes.

I would hire someone to take care of my money for me, as I have no interest in learning about finances or anything that bores me.

I would still work, but I would do a job like a police officer or retail sales. Haha, I could never just sit around doing nothing and chances are I would climb the career ladder still as I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't, but I would do so without stress.

And what a wonderful life it would be.

I'd feel comfortable with not having a salaried job.

I'd rather spend my time either:

Racking up degrees from universities (I can do that double PhD I've wanted to do).

Working on my own little projects (music, writing, etc...)

If I did enter myself into a job, it would presumably also be something academic.

Unfortunately, I'd probably need a whole team of people to help me work that money out. There would be some temptation, I suppose, to invest it further into more money making ventures.

But I just did a rough calculation and found that for the purpose of what I want in life, 100 million is well beyond what I'd spend in my entire life time. So, I could stash some of it away to save for emergency, spend some of it on the few exorbitances I'm really interested in, and do something nice and generous with all the rest.
    Go to sleep, iguana.

I would not work for someone else and earn a "paycheck".

I think that the moment you set up a law firm or a brokerage with the power to administer your fortune is the moment you enable them to quietly embezzle it all away. It could happen in ways that appear quite legal... a bad run of luck in the markets, you know, and your investment could take a serious loss.

Players at the 100 million dollar level play for keeps, and unless you are educated enough to oversee them, you're a babe in the woods. How do you think all those brokerage firms got fat selling mortgage-backed securities? It was a legal way to steal from whoever bought the bond. They knew... positively knew... that the mortgages that backed the bonds were so much trash. They were writing mortgages for anybody with a fricking pulse, and paying off the bond rating agencies to give the instruments a triple-A rating.

Mess around in the markets without knowing what you're doing and they'll eat you for lunch. Period.
