ok don't laugh, but i realized that in the Beatles song "All You Need is Love", at the beginning they are singing love, love, love . For so long it sounded like "blah, blah, blah"

This lead me to the realization that as an instrumentalist, I don't know what most songs are actually saying.

Me either. I'm pretty sure that if I actually examined the lyrics to a lot of my favorite music, I'd be horrified.

I realized that it is going to be awful hard to let my daughter go. I know she'll be legally grown in less than a year, but I still want to protect her. She's good and she's strong and she's smart, but it's not a nice world out there.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

Today I realised I don't often have realisations and mostly just bumble my way through things.

Today I realized how much I really am in love with this dog that belongs to my father. He's been declining a bit lately with arthritis affecting him, and having recently lost my baby, it of course hurt me badly. But I didn't think I was nearly as attached to this dog as I am.. I had to stop talking about his pain to my neighbor before I started choking up.

I also realized today that things are mostly empty space. I was thinking that, if the analogy of the atom is that the nucleus is a football in the center of the stadium, than the stadium itself is the electron cloud. That's gobs and gobs of empty space. So even solid objects, like a table you can stand on, are empty space. So then I was thinking, if it's empty space, what is there? Air? Can't be since air itself is a huge series of atoms that have their own empty spaces.. And thats where my head started getting confused and lost.

Here you go, in bold as requested .....
I went to my first live stand-up comedy show tonight, and while the comic is clearly highly gifted, and I laughed a lot, there was too much talk about sexual topics for my taste, which made me feel highly embarrassed and made me squirm in my seat. I also felt that the comic is living an unhealthy, dissolute life, and they drink and smoke pot to fill a void in their soul left by having no spiritual life to speak of. It kind of made me sad when I thought about it after the show and I actually wish I could help this guy with his substance use issues, but if someone did that, he might not be funny anymore. Overall, I learned that it's not worth sitting through lots of jokes about sex, some of which made me uncomfortable, to get some laughs, no matter how talented the performer is. Particularly when there are talented comics around who can make you laugh without spending half of their show talking about penises.

I realized today that if someone is feeling insecure and is looking for proof of my caring, that I provide misproof since it's annoying.
