Default do you find that you feel more comfortable

lending money than you are asking for money?

I find that when I ahve money I don't mind buying people things, but when I'm broke I feel uncomfortable asking for things I need, even though I know people would help me out. like it's a pride thing, I don't want to ask x for y even though i bought x y in the past. and I know x would so help me out. any one else have this problem?

Yes I'm also prone to this behavior.
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... Some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age. Yeah, I hate borrowing money, but I have no problem lending it. I hate admitting to myself that I am dependent on other people, but sometimes that's just the way it is.

Lending feels much more comfortable. I resort to borrowing when it's absolutely necessary and most of the time I can avoid it.

Well of course I'm more comfortable lending money as opposed to borrowing it; it feels good to know that I helped someone out, and unlike other people I am usually flexible on when they can pay me back, granted if I'm not in a generous mood and freely give them money. For example a couple weeks ago some random stranger needed bus fair, and I was completely fine with giving him that bus fair, knowing that I altrusticly assited something that he needed.

Don't borrow money and if lent, consider it a gift. If it's returned, it's a bonus.

I'd rather starve (and I have) rather than borrow money.
If I really have to, I pay it back the second I get money.

Thankfully, those days are over now. Had a bad, bad time in 2008.
