I wanted a name made of Latin roots. I already had the suffix "-gen" in mind, meaning "forming" or "formed from." I chose the prefix Nihilo- out of nowhere. Though if you put them together you get roughly "nothing-form," "something from nothing."
Dannik was the name of a very-long-running (and much celebrated) dungeons & dragons character of mine.
After a long and storied career, Dannik died when his "friend" blew-up a powder keg that blasted both of them off the side of a mountain.
But actually Dannik was blasted into an alternate timeline, where he lived for several hundreds of years - engaged in an endless battle with his nemesis who was straddling timelines and ripping all worlds apart, until finally Dannik returned to the Prime Timeline and fucking killed that asshole Real Dead.
But Dannik died (for real) in the process.
Now I still play the same long-long running weekly D&D game with my same friends, in the same world :
and Dannik is a long whispering shadow of an ancient hero, barely remembered.
my former username was chana, which means chickpea in Indian restaurant language. also mashed up chickpeas and tahini make a healthy, delicious snack. also it sounds adorable. I considered changing to chickpenis but don't feel prepared for that kind of attention.
