Definitely receiving. I like getting some confirmation that people notice me on here. Giving them can make me self-conscious if they don't reply, depending on what I'd said (not that I'm all that great about replying to reps). I'm often reluctant to show interest in others. I'm the same way IRL.

I haven't given or received too many here yet, but on other forums I'm fine with either. Receiving always feels like happy yahoo whoo waaa!! But giving a well-deserved post a smack of rep fills the drawers with excitement as well. After all, we would have no receiving without giving. I'll try to stop being so dang wise.

It seems silly to use it. It's just a less personal system of PMing it seems?

    Why is reputation disabled anyway?

As far as emotional reaction goes, I have a stronger response to receiving a rep. But I do like to give reps. Giving reps can feel like a form of initiating contact with someone, which often gives me a small measure of anxiety (how will the person receive this?), and I suppose that diminishes some of the pleasure. On the otherhand, I find my own thoughts extremely interesting in that morbidly introverted sort of way, so I do like opportunities to express them
Often a star was waiting for you to notice it. A wave rolled toward you out of the distant past, or as you walked under an open window, a violin yielded itself to your hearing. All this was mission. But could you accomplish it? (Rilke)

I get abnormally excited when I see new reps.

I've been giving quite a lot though, lately.

I prefer receiving .. Oopss wrong thread

Giving has it's moments also. It becomes personal.

I enjoy repping people when i notice the inside joke .. That's the best. It's like our secret yet i'm unaware of who else has noticed
