I don't mind if it's a picture of a bunch of old drunk dutch guys throwing knives and one of them pissing on the side of the house... it's the full frontal posed (and clothed!) pictures that are creepy... they're loking at me

I bet you'd like Hogarth actually. The engravings tend to be better than the paintings though, at least the well known ones.

I have an odd fondness for engravings, woodcuts and lithographs for some reason... it's the fucking portraits where the people are staring at you in a somewhat realistic fashion that freak me out

I love William Bouguereau. I'm not the most visual person in the world so I really respect those who are good at it. His edges and colors are soft, his technique is solid, great detail, and I don't know, it's just really nice to look at. Suits my INFP sensibilities, I guess?

His interpretation of The Pieta is my favorite.

the only times I look at them are when I'm in the art museum with my sis (INFJ) and then we criticize the paintings of that sort together (and HOW many chins does she have?! )

I posted his Nymphs and Satyr in the flirting thread as a joke a while ago, and it was deleted due to, apparently, showing too many naughty bits.

Note to everyone who reads this and is thinking of posting: Things that are not allowed on the forum due to the anti-pornography rules apparently include female nipples, no matter how artistic the portrayal, so you either need to tread carefully or repost them with some photoshopped fig leaves, or whatever, in the appropriate positions. Given the importance of nudes in art, I think this issue is likely to come up in the thread at some point. Forewarned is forearmed!

Van Gogh is good. I liked the Musee D'Orsay in Paris a lot overall.
