Default Tipping at restaurants - Are you a good/bad tipper?

So there is a lot of generalization about tipping - Men are better tippers than women, teenagers and foreigners are the worst, etc etc. I wonder if there is any consistency with tipping across types. A friend of mine compared my bad tipping habits with ISTJ's trait of being poor at giving praise.

I dislike that there is an obligation to tip (in the US at least). A tip should be for performing above/beyond expectations. However, I also think it should be illegal to pay servers below minimum wage. I generally try to tip around 10-15% if they haven't screwed up. But I remain annoyed that they get away with paying servers less than minimum wage.

Good, even when the service is bad.

I usually tip around 30% because I'm kind of demanding about my order being precise, so I only feel that it's fair

my ISTJ usually tips around 20%... more towards 10% if the service was horrible... he's not the one who orders things super specifically like I do though

Yeah, I always give decent tips no matter what. I guess I feel it's like my way of trying to buy myself out of guilt of being served.

You live in the same area I do, you're undertipping.

A lot of Foreigners probably don't tip well because in their own country tipping is non existant....it a cultural thing so dont hate on them to bad! I visited South Korea recently, we went to a restataunt and left a tip on the table, the waitress chased us down and with the money in hand telling us we forgot money on the table. My mom used to always tip $2 no matter how much the bill was, I finally explained to her about how it works lol. She's a good tipper now lol

It fluctuates. Matters how they act.

For the most part, I don't dig tipping.

30% as a norm, more if they were excellent.

20% minimum, even if they screw up.

I could never do a service type job (I'm way too spacey), so I have respect for them.

And typically, the difference between 20% and 30% is just a few bucks... for a $50 tab, the difference is only $5. That's a trivial amount to bring a smile to somebody's face or make them feel good about themselves and their work.
