Yesterday the radio told me that caskets and urns that are designed to match a Major League Baseball team are now available. So, for example, I can get an Atlanta Braves coffin with the exterior logos and interior Braves fabric. Does anyone else find this a bit repulsive? Or maybe it's cool?

Pretty repulsive. Kinda sad when one's final resting place is in their fave team memorabilia. You'd think there'd be something a little more refined than that.

The company's marketing rep made the point that a funeral should be a celebration of the honored person's life not his demise. He added something to the tune of, "What better way than to highlight the brand with which the person had come to associate himself?"

You could have one of those joke limbs that hang out of car doors and trunks, but have it tailored to match Gene's tongue.

I don't mind the idea of a bit of humour when I'm gone. Honestly.. it's all a bit depressing otherwise.

I don't want to be branded, but I'd like a comedy tombstone.

    I think I'll go for :

"Geoff - 1972 - 21XX (got to be optimistic, right?)
    I'm a long time dead
    That's what I said
So I looked for a rhyme
    but settled for

    "I finally left on time"

I'm not familiar with the process, but don't the living generally select a casket? You better watch your back.

*wild morbid laughing* I have a picture of me painted up like a purple Ace Frehly somewhere. That can go on a plaque next to my fancypants rock-star casket.

My INFJ father says he wants his epitaph to read: "Oh. That felt funny..."
