    Default Intellectual Freedom

    Anybody achieve it?

    Or have come close?

What do you mean by "intellectual freedom"?

First, please define "intellectual freedom". That is, unless you want us to define it ourselves.

What I mean by that is the freedom to pursue your own interests/projects without worrying about how it will pay your bills (or the projects themselves)

I meant personal intellectual freedom, not the right to assemble, and discuss things, etc.

Sorry about that. For some reason, I thought people would know what I meant.

    Really. How?

Also, I joined this forum in August last year, so I am not familiar with your story.

Well, I guess I've been sort of close in the summer when I have nothing to do and school is out. I tend to spend my time on the Internet or reading books as I see fit. Does that count?

Well that's financial freedom to me. I've been bent on that notion for the last six months. The things that I really want to do will make some money, but not very much. Once I get my house paid off I should be able move to a career that I really enjoy. Working for money sucks ass.

As far as intellectual freedom goes, I'm finding that I become a little more free each time I simplify, or get rid of something. The maintenance of possessions is such a mind killer.

I think Grayscale was kidding, ygolo.

And for me, the answer is no. I haven't achieved it or even come close. I'm a slave to the system and plot every day as to how I can defeat it.

When I was around sixteen. Unfortunately I had too much teenage angst spinning around my head at the time to appreciate it.
