Yes, I do; although, I do "lol" and occasionally "brb" and "ttyl".
There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.

    Yes and No.

I know how to spell and how to use proper grammar.

That being said, I sometimes choose to leave out periods, elongate words and play with words (whaaaaat's up dood), and I usually never begin a text with a capital letter.

I NEVER use abbreviations (Lol, rofl, lmao, brb, g2g, nm, u, 2, r, etc.) They make me gag.
Is it that by its indefiniteness it shadows forth the heartless voids and immensities of the universe, and thus stabs us from behind with the thought of annihilation, when beholding the white depths of the milky way?

I use probably half proper spelling/grammar half text lingo. Enough so the idea can actually get across.

I sort of do. It's not so important, but I at least want to convey myself clearly. Language conventions exist for a reason--it allows for a common understanding.

If I get a message back from you that I can't freakin' understand because of all of your shorthand, I'll punch you in the face next time I see you. At least my message to you will be clear.

    I usually don't.

Texting is expensive in the Netherlands. With most providers, one message costs the same as a minute of calling for some inexplicable reason. So i often abbreviate and omit punctuation to keep the message as short as possible.

Usually i just call people... i mean, it's just as expensive.

I don't think i abbreviate anything during phonecalls Well, sometimes i say "goodbye" when i really meant to say something like "goodbye and i hope you get herpes, you cocksucker". Does that count?
ik sprokkel wat dagen, drop baggage,
soms heb ik geen zin om die koffers te dragen,
ik laat los, los het op, word onzichtbaar
en geef de buitenlucht wat ruimte terug
dus.. nu zit ik op m'n fiets alsof het niets is,
maar niets kan toch niet uit zichzelf pedalen laten draaien?

about 90% of the time I'd say. Sometimes I go back and delete proper grammar to shorten a message to a single text.
Kantgirl: Just say "I'm feminine and I'll punch anyone who says otherwise!"
Halla74: Think your way through the world. Feel your way through life.

Cimarron: maybe Prpl will be your girl-bud
    prplchknz: i don't like it

Same with me, sometimes. Or I might abbreviate words like "appt" for "appointment" or "prob" for "probbably." Usually I use proper grammar, but I wouldn't say I'm a grammar Nazi. But the "u" and "ur" and "2"s really get under my skin.

This. I mostly use proper grammar, with punctuation. But I do abbreviate certain words, and I use what I'd call IM-speak more than text-speak, like "lol"

I don't necessarily mind it when others use textspeak in a text. But I want to kill them when they use textspeak anyplace else, including on forums, on IM or in emails. YOU HAVE A KEYBOARD.

Yeah this. But I have a nice qwerty on my phone. I'm still slow though.
