I hate when someone is clearly wrong in a factual dispute, but continue arguing with you AFTER you point out the error, and it's demonstrated clearly. In fact, they will argue that much harder. That really burns my ass.

I hate arguing with someone who is so irrational as to care nothing about whether or not he or she is right, just that they keep up the facade. Like, when it's not an exchange of facts, or even ideas, but an argument for its own sake.

I know what you mean... I had an argument with an old girlfriend (probably an ESTJ)... she claimed that animals had no feelings... that sex drive, for instance, was "instinct"... so I questioned her as to what instinct was... she said "it's an emotionless or feelingless drive"... so I said, when a female dog, for instance, is in heat, she probably gets the urge to mate... right?

    yes...

what happens if she doesn't get to?

well, she'll look for it... that's it...

what's driving her? I mean, inside... it's not like she enjoys not mating... or feels nothing... if she felt nothing, there'd be no drive to mate... there must be some discomfort of some sort in not being able to fulfill that drive... and fulfilling it, by mating, would result in some sort of satisfaction, or at least a cessation of discomfort?

yes... i could go with that.

then one could say she felt some kind of pain, or irritability, or discomfort, not fulfilling the drive, and pleasure, relief, resolution, having fulfilled it?

    not really...

what do you mean? there's pain and pleasure here! your concept of instinct is empty! at least tell me what it means!

    animals don't feel anything.

I pressed her as to what it means when a dog whines, or a cat purrs... 'instinct'...

    there's a reason she's my ex.

Agreed, it is one of the most frustrating things someone can do, right under changing the subject mid-debate when they're losing, or just completly dismissing you with out giving it so much a thought when they so obviously wrong.
