Default Do women evaluate men by what kind of shoes they wear?

I often hear that one way women evaluate men is by what kind of shoes they wear…. I’ve heard several of my female friends say this as well… and so I’m wondering if there is any truth behind this…

So I’m curious... how much do women take into account what kind of shoes a guy is wearing when assessing them?

    NO. That's bullshit. Period.
I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower. The TV was obviously on. I used to fly myself and I said, "There's one terrible pilot."

That is in fact my only criteria. I should have put that in the dealbreakers thread.

Shoes? Really? How is that important in any meaningful way?

But if you really want to know... Everything is fine unless you're wearing Jesus sandals. I can't stand that. But really, it's not something I look for.

Yes, but what kind of shoes should he then wear?

I know a lot of women that aren't big on the socks and sandals look on guys. Generally most kinds of shoes are fine, so long as they don't stand out too much. However, I think seeing a guy wearing shiny white runners with dress pants or jean shorts with dress shoes maybe indicates either 1) being stuck in a different era 2) lack of awareness of other social norms. 3) very low tolerance for worrying about what others think. There are women on What Not To Wear that just look like they've totally given up caring about their appearance or who have a weird perception of themselves and what their clothes say about their personality (clothes should reflect personality, not create it). I don't think all men are exempt from this either, although the variety and nature of women's clothing makes it easier for them to fall into this trap.

I wouldn't write someone off solely based on that, but it would contribute to the total picture I had of him.

how come I keep hearing women say this?...You might be an exception, but I'm sure you've heard of women doing this..I also came across pretty lengthy articles speaking solely about this subject..
Is it just you that doesn't do this or is this just a myth in general?
