That's a good point Fluffy. However, whatever the reasoning, I still think there are some shoes that I'd encourage my man not to wear and others that I would be wholly in favour of. If I were stifling him all the time, it probably would indicate that there were other bigger things we didn't see eye to eye on. However generally, wear what you like as long as you're an interesting person to be around. It's not really that big of a deal.
I'll be honest and say the toe shoes would be kind of a turn-off for me. Too Fred Flintstone-y. I get them for the purpose of barefoot running, but I wouldn't want to go have lunch with a guy wearing those.
I never really thought I cared about foot size and certainly have never believed there was nothing to the correlation. However, there was a guy who had tiny little feet - I mean like a couple inches shorter than mine and it occurred to me that I think that would not be appealing to me in a SO.
