what if he was wearing running shoes with shorts and crew socks. And rocked a wolf t-shirt to top it all off. And maybe had his sideburns cut way too high. And all he wanted to talk to you about was how many times he beat Super Mario 3?

    to the OP:

there is some truth in correlating shoes with personality, provided that it's taken in the right context. The reason is that certain shoes have a certain perception behind them, thanks to marketing.

Just judge by the shoe. What kind of guy is he if he wears:
    sneakers
    sandals
    alligator/snake skin
    wing tips
    steel toe
    pointed toe
    aqua shoes
    vibram shoes (five finger shoes)
    no shoes

you probably already have a perception about the person. Furthremore, this shoe thing works in the other direction, it can say something about a woman as well.

    penny loafers
    stiletto
    strappy heels
    open toe
    sneakers
    wedges
    low heel
    keds
    flip flops
    crocs
    pumps
    etc

There are a couple of books called shoeology (psuedo-science, but a fun read)
"People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But the self is not something one finds; it is something one creates." - Thomas Szasz

Good example, in that situation I'm pretty sure any girl would look at him, look down to his shoes, sigh and say, if you weren't wearing running shoes this could have been magic.

but that's not just about his shoes ...that's an entire clusterfuck of problems

the running shoes would have been fine. it's the rest of the story that bothers me.

I wear big black Doc Marten boots 90% of the time, what does that say about me?

I usually don't care much about style or size of peoples' shoes- but if their shoes are incredibly grungy (so much ground in dirt that what could well have been white shoes originally are walnut brown), then I might wonder if they're homeless or something.

Generally, I judge people by what they say, where I met them, whether or not they look Creepy or sinister, or what I have seen them do previously.

A:He would build a cage, step inside, and rename his new location as "outside."

I have never once evaluated a man based on his shoes....unless they were high heels.

I like to wear flip-flops whenever I can. It just means I'm uber comfortable with my hetero sexuality, and that socks are annoying.
