Whatever I can do to help, as long as it is, in some semblance, important to them, and not a waste of my time.

What do you do to improve your environment (in the general sense, not the Al Gore sense, necessarily)?
Lately, not much.. Recycle when I can, try to keep as many lights "off" as possible. Don't let the water run.. small things really.

Do you feel that you give more than you get?
Sometimes, yes. But I don't mind, since I don't really do things in expectancy of getting something in return. As long as I'm not getting taken advantage of, I really don't helping people.

    Could you do more?
Oh yes. There is always more you can do.

    Why don't you?
I try to do what I can, when I can. I don't really try to over do myself. Only do things when I have the time to.

    - I homeschool both my kids, because the school system in my country is shit.

    - I pay £1 to any kid who brings me a bag full of litter that they've picked up off the street

    - I teach English as a foreign language for free to refugees

    - I try to be a considerate, accepting and non-judgemental person

    - I recycle everything I humanly can, and use only one tenth of the average energy consumed by a house and family my size.

    - I care for and support a number of local people whose disabilities and conditions "slip through the net" of social services and would otherwise have to cope alone.

    - My entire being stands in defiance against a growing culture of fear, suspicion, cynicism, self-absorption, apathy and irresponsibility.

And yes, of course there's more I could do. But I think that's quite enough for one person, at the mo...

What do you do to help other people?

I'm the go-to girl for people's life and relationship problems. I listen and offer advice as objectively as I can. I cheer people up when they're down and I'm there for them when they need me.

What do you do to improve your environment?

I'm clean and organized. I don't litter. I often act as mediator between fighting parties in my house in hopes of keeping the peace.

Do you feel that you give more than you get?
Sometimes. But the people I pour myself into that don't give much in return usually don't stick around long. I don't have time for greedy, selfish 'friends.'

    Could you do more?
Probably. There's always ways to improve.

    Why don't you?
Partially laziness, partially not wanting to spread myself so thin that I forget to take care of my own life/problems.

I dispose of chemicals and products appropriately.
I'm conscious of the natural resources I use and try to reduce them.
I specifically chose research projects that are related to green chemistry etc and I follow green chemistry/science principles in my research to reduce waste.

yes I think everyone could do more, but the question is how much are you willing to sacrifice...

I spend about 20 to 30 hours a month volunteering flight time, and about 10 to 15 hours a week doing group tutoring sessions... if I did more I wouldn't be able to complete my PhD on time... so I limit my volunteer work to what I can reasonably do without impacting my degree and I limit my environmental efforts to what is reasonable to do without negatively impacting the progress of my research...

What do you do to help other people?
I often meet people on the street, who are strung out and need someone to talk to. I lend a sympathetic ear over a cup of Jo and a fresh cigarette.

What do you do to improve your environment
I tip generously. It makes for happier co-existence, and my scrambled eggs contain no saliva.

Do you feel that you give more than you get?
Not in the long term whole picture sense, though I must admit, the short term wants and needs can be a bit frustrating.

    Could you do more?
    I could, indeed.

    Why don't you?
When I can do more, I make the effort.

Would this include giving money to the homeless and often giving tips...? Otherwise, I leave anyone else alone... Unless it's a strong emergency.
What do you do to improve your environment (in the general sense, not the Al Gore sense, necessarily)?
Cleaning out my rubbish? Otherwise I can't say I've done much.
Do you feel that you give more than you get?
    No
    Could you do more?
    Yes
    Why don't you?
It is uncommon and unnatural for me to project my duties towards the external world not directly in relation to me so my feelings towards the external world lies dormant within me rarely, if ever, touched.
