That sounds delicious, though I don't know why you would use anything beyond the flavoring.

He said that the ice cream helped him a lot and the pepto bismol did as well. And then he considered why not put the two together?

I thought it was so funny, he was excited about it. You could tell when you read the article. He even enjoys the pink coloring.

I don't know. I don't see any reason to do that... why not just stop drinking alcohol? But I can see how it might be interesting to try, and people have done weirder things, so... if you want to try it, it doesn't seem too bad to me. It probably isn't as unappetizing as regular Pepto-Bismol, which maybe important if you take a lot of it.

As with any drug, parents would have to be careful with this. A friend of mine's teenage daughter died of Reye's Syndrome because the Pepto-Bismol that she took on the day that she died contained salicylates.

I agree with you that as a rule, parents should be very cautious about what kind of medicine they give their children.

But Reye's syndrome is more a problem in a person's genes or environment or something than anything that can be predicted/prevented. Most people can take medicine like aspirin without getting that, and the few that are vulnerable to that disease should be monitored closely anyway.

In fact, I think a lot useful medicines are taken off the market because one or two people had or developed biological vulnerabilities to them, when they could have helped many others. Alka-Seltzer having to remove perfectly good ingredients because of a few people's reactions to them, which I hear made it less effective, is one example.

Reye's Syndrome is such a rare disease (what I've heard about it anyway). The parent's didn't even have enough time to take her to the hospital before she went into a coma. Scary stuff... Anyway, I didn't even know that Pepto-Bismol had salicylates in it. My sister is allergic to aspirin and cannot take Pepto-Bismol. I won't take Pepto... well, because the taste and smell of it makes me gag.
