    Default Test you Traveler IQ

I found this amusing test on the internet, created perhaps in hopes of boosting the incredible geographic ignorance that seems to be ever-so prevalent in the US.

Here it is: Traveler IQ Challenge

When finished, post your results. I really don't care how many points you got. I am far more interested in knowing which was the highest level you reached.

I will post my own results after precisely seven responses, just because I am somewhat obsessive-compulsive, as well as the fact that I just like the number 7.

I got to level 8. All the African countries screwed me over.

    Will try again maybe.

ETA: retries got me to level 10! Damn Micronesia states, Easter Islands, and other various island countries.

I reached Level 5 and got 155,000 points. Damn Galapagos Islands!

The closest I got to anywhere was 17km from Tel Aviv.

Indeed, the limited ability to zoom in results in a relative imprecision when trying to nail the destination, even if you have a 100% accurate picture in you mind, is one of the quiz's fatal flaws.

    Level 6.

I just missed Level 7 by a few points. I'm blaming Trinidad and Tobago.

Once the clock started, it didn't even occur to me to zoom in. I couldn't see much of anything in that jumble. I was just approximating at best.

[Edit: Level 8 the second time. ]

Got to level 10. Didn't get enough points to get to the next one cos of how hard it is to find small places like Belgium, Luxemburg etc on the map, just like Merkw said.

Said my travel IQ was 145

    I have travelled a lot.

I made it to level 3. My traveler IQ was 81. Geez, I feel like such a moron. Geography isn't my forte either, obviously.

EDIT: On my second try, I made it to level 4. The only thing tripping me up is all these island nations, and a lousy sense of location for any place outside of Europe or the U.S. For some reason, I seem to know more about Western European geography than anything else.

EDIT2: Third try. I made it to level 6 and an IQ of 89. I'm remembering where various things I've been presented with before are... that's probably the reason for the improvement.

So far I beat you all. To top it off, I am probably dramatically younger than most of you. Geography is hardly taught in schools at all these days. I bet there are very few high-school students in this country who could tell me where Asmara, Eritrea is.

    What a pity.

Anyways, I have gotten to level 11 out of 12. I am ridiculously close to beating this thing. The final level is so close.
