I would absolutely open a box. Just skip to the end of destiny.

Open a box and hope for the worst.
"A spill at the plant increased the phosphates in the lake and produced a scum of algae so thick that the swamp smell filled the air, infiltrating the genteel mansions. Debutantes cried over the misfortune of coming out in a season everyone would remember for its bad smell."

On that note... Bigger picture. Why take life itself seriously?
Is there a worth in itself in existence?
If reaching "heaven" or "elysium", "paradise", the "summerlands" on earth... Whatever.
If that gets a fifty-fifty chance, that is one hell of a lot better than what can be hoped for.

This is the first music piece I learned on guitar, and while I actually don't remember the chords for it, I remember the words.
I repeat them sometimes when I take mundane shit way too seriously.
(Talking stuff like this is fun, though)

    Row, row, row your boat,
    Gently down the stream.
    Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
    Life is but a dream.

Don't get me wrong. I do care if I live or die.
I like living, since I do things I like some of the time.
There is a purpose to my existence, and i'm uncovering some of it every day.
Some things, though, are worth the risk.

I think that's the lesson MagnificentMind is trying to relay.

Mightier than the tread of marching armies is the power of an idea whose time has come

I wouldn't want to take such a grave risk. The world is not as hellish as you may take it to be. Sure it can be pretty hellish at times but I would rather achieve a so called perfect world though our own human efforts and not through some divine power.

Though I must say I used to think the same way as you.

It's not worth risking the entire world to fix the world for some. And anyways, death is part of the natural process and needs to happen if we're going to continue breeding like rabbits.

In a perfect world it wouldn't need to happen
