My sister's teenage friend (she was 17 at the time, and plenty old enough to know better).

Dozy girl: "No, don't go out, you'll catch a cold if you get wet in the rain, you need to put a coat on!"

Me: "Umm... you do know that a cold is caused by something called a virus, right? And that you have to catch this virus off other people?"

Dozy girl looks perplexed, then turns to sister: "He's making it up, isn't he?"

one of my friend's said that those who died in Haiti were sinners who faced God's punishment...cos some people practice Voodoo in that island
    :steam:

    apparently even the kids....

but then again i was not as shocked as i would have been, if i had not heard pat Robertson say the same thing about Haiti a few days after the Quake

this is the main problem with those religious people who subscribe to the "my way is the only way" worldview.

    Someone argues with group thinking.

"But everyone knows this" or "But everyone does it"

    Me - Hey, I'm gay.

He/She/It who shall not be named - Really you're gay? As in you like men? Isn't that a disease or something?

    Me - *facepalm*

My aunt claims that she remembers being a fetus...

    This will not end well...
But it will at least be poetic, I suppose...

Hmm... But what if it does end well?
Then I suppose it will be a different sort of poetry, a preferable sort...
A sort I could become accustomed to...

Well, I've heard many, many spectacularly stupid things, but Obama continually cracks me up with his absurdities. Such as:

Obama 'very concerned' about Greek debt crisis — EUbusiness.com - Business News from the European Union

President Barack Obama talks jobs in visit to Buffalo - RocNow.com

    Should one laugh or cry?

(I was working in a jeans store)

I dont see whats stupid here. At worst I see a mistaken economic position? Albeit one that still has the support of many smart people?
I hope I'm wrong, but I believe that he is a fraud, and I think despite all of his rhetoric about being a champion of the working class, it will turn out to be hollow -- Bernie Sanders on Trump
