Default I don't do "activity" because "insert excuse"

I've been noticing that people use a lot of "I don't have time" "I don't have room" "I don't have money" to do this that or the other.

How often are these things actually reasons and how often are they excuses? My smom says "I don't have time to read" but watches TV. I realized my "fashion" thing is an excuse after calling someone on their "excuses" this morning. I like to say: I don't "dress eclectic" because I don't have "the time or money" to spend on it. Surrre, I could shop a the thrift store (its eclectic for goodness sake) and take a little of my computer time to do it.

What have you called other people on (or just notice) and what do you use as excuses yourself?

Meh.. most people can't be bothered.

For me, it's a simple case of time managment or mismanagment.

    I don't want to.

    ....that is usually my excuse.

    edit:

I do give excuses/reasons why I don't want to, because most people will continue to ask " WHY!!!!" after I have told them I don't want to. Just to shut them up.

It's about priorities a lot of the time. I have mine and other people have theirs and they don't have to be the same.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

I have no idea... i usually come up with excuses right on the spot (and I'm pretty good at it).

"I don't want to" or "I'm too lazy" are both good ones.

Because i'm unmotivated and my time management skills suck.

I think my main excuse is just blunt honesty.

What Cafe said. If your mom likes TV more than reading, then maybe she really doesn't have time to read. She just values TV more than you do and reading less than you do. I guess in the end, if we want to do something, we'll make the time for it or put in the effort to do it.

Yes, that's what I think is TRUE, it's just that sometimes it's easier to say "I dont have the time" some other kind of thing.
