I would NEVER eat in front of others at the dentist mainly out of courtesy (and secondly because I would have to brush again). If I were to eat lunch, it would be in the car prior to the appointment.
Typically I schedule my dentist appointments for first thing in the morning, skip breakfast, and chow down afterwards in the car.

But sometimes I do take myself out to eat, and you wouldn't have to feel sorry for me if you saw me-- I'd be happy being alone with my thoughts for ten seconds!

I'm tempted to list the potential catty retorts by number, as an academic exercise.

luckily my dentist's office is less than five minutes from my parent's house, so I can eat and brush my teeth at home and get their plenty of time for my appointment. The bad part is I do have to come home at least once in the summer to get my teeth cleaned. So I never had the problem of being stuck somewhere eating.
    In no likes experiment.

    that is all

i dunno what else to say so

    Here's three for starters:

    1. (Except when they're naked and properly oiled, of course.)
    2. But you don't mind when a crowd of people squishes into you!
    3. ...you much prefer to be squished into them one at a time?!?

this totally reminds me of my lurking suspicion that my friends only keep me around because I'm so easy to make fun of!

Just because you're easy to make fun of doesn't mean that's the ONLY reason they keep you around.

That really isn't what I was thinking... but I'm certainly not going to argue.

I was in the airport at my gate waiting for a connecting flight yesterday. There were a good amount of people sitting around me. I ate half of my subway but felt too self conscious mainly because there was a row of seats along the wall to my left with a couple of people looking right in my direction. I packed up camp and headed somewhere less busy to finish.

I don't have a problem with being seen eating in public or whatever. I just hate when it feels like people are staring at you. hah
