Ah okay, I get you now - so you were more sorta musing over the inconsistencies in this area generally, as regards to what's polite and what isn't?

Sorry I misunderstood you at first :/

    Bingo.

Apparently the longer I spend teaching high schoolers, the less clearly I'm able to communicate. Thanks for your patience.

Ever been taken to lunch as part of a job interview?

That's a great way to not enjoy lunch at all. I have a couple of rules of thumb for that situation, however:

    1. Don't order something you eat with your hands (i.e., a sandwich) unless the person interviewing you also does.
    2. Don't order spaghetti or anything similiar (linguine, etc.)
    3. Don't order a salad.

What about being stuck on a plane where the dick head directly next to you decides to open and eat one of these? This recently happened to my Husband.

Thanks to airplane ventilation systems, I'm sure that joyful tuna smell wafted throughout the plane for the remainder of the trip.

I PREFER to eat alone in my office or in the car.

I dislike eating in a restaurant by myself, however. Actually, I refuse to eat by myself in a restaurant. I always feel sorry for folks who are eating by themselves in restaurants.

I would NEVER eat in front of others at the dentist mainly out of courtesy (and secondly because I would have to brush again). If I were to eat lunch, it would be in the car prior to the appointment.
