Weird. I was thinking about this the other day. I drew a rather large blank. WOT! seems right though.
I was thinking fashions and music though...
Currently submerged under an avalanche of books and paper work. I may come back up for air from time to time.

2000-2010 was about the challengers of America and the ultimate failure of the idea of a unipolar world led by the US (Fukuyama).

Hmmm, Im not so sure. I would have guessed that the population of people using internet in the 90s wouldn't compare to the population using it in 2004.

    The metaphor doesn't cover extremities.
And I don't think this decade is comparable to a natural disaster such as a tornado.

It was about American imperialism, and how it killed itself with over-spending.
How the world grew increasingly weary of the self-appointed world police and its huge economic influence.
How the great war machine devoured more money than the countries involved could make.

How China started to grow and develop. The first steps to replacing the beast in the West. Hopefully it will not bring about a World War, only a declining importance and strength of the U.S.

That was the political part. Mentally, it has been a stressful period.
The society is moving way too fast to be natural or healthy.
Norms and morals have continued to weaken a lot, letting in all sorts of bad crap calling it human progress.
The last couple of years saw huge unemployment, and it wrecked many families and individual lives.

Technology has been booming like seldom or ever before.
Information is now much more widely available than in previous times.
    On the other hand, there is a growing trend of embracing ignorance as a positive thing;
    succumbing to the TV-zombie mentality.
Reading books seems to be a somewhat forgotten pastime, nowadays.

Mightier than the tread of marching armies is the power of an idea whose time has come

Whatever you say. All I see in that last decade is exhaustion, anyway.

I see transition. People might percieve it as boring or pointless though.

Fewer people caring, fewer people sticking up for themselves, more and more hiding. People used to get angry, now they're just trying to conserve their energy.

Its introduction and popular emergence was in the 90s, so that's the decade it will get known for most. The last decade has just been an expansion on that.

It's like, more people use color TVs now than ever, but this isn't the decade of the color TV. That's the 60s or 70s.
