This had been mentioned in this thread, and seemed like a neat idea, so after a few weeks I've now gotten around to starting the planned thread to see what it would take and whether it seems worth some attention.

Do you mean like a subforum here? Or a totally new forum?

Totally new was what I thought the post was talking about, though sub forum here might also work in an interesting way.

as a sub-forum, no (this is not a dating site).
this is a site loosely resembling what you describe: typetango.com. does not appear to have taken off the ground.
eharmony.com supposedly uses MBTI to match people.

as an actual straight up forum... males would be overrepresented (as usual).

dating sites are already a saturated market anyway so ..

    I'm in agreement with that.

That is dating personals site, not a forum.

eharmony.com supposedly uses MBTI to match people.
That is unfounded. They use DAS.

True, but males over represent the internet in general. And why the insinuation that such a forum would only cater to heterosexuals?

dating sites are already a saturated market anyway so ..
True, pay dating sites are saturated, but what does that have to do with a free forum?

eHarmony #1 Trusted Relationship Site Move Beyond "Traditional" Online Dating

It is the Five Factor Model. (Extraversion, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Openness, and Emotional Stability.) I know this because I've taken the test myself.

Signing up and taking the test is free. It just costs money to view the profiles of others.

EDIT: And really, I am not convinced about these dating sites. I don't see any qualifications major enough to make them any different from MySpace or Facebook.

With dating sites, users tend to be older (like 30 or above). With MySpace or Facebook, users usually range in between teens and mid-20's.

    As usual, I stand corrected.

I couldn't agree more. Forums allow for so much more communication.
