    Default Your heroes

Was playing poker and realised how much I admire (as does probably every other poker player in the world) Phil Ivey. He comes across as the complete poker player (Little advert he dones once = YouTube - KGB Clears Out Phil Ivey [1])

Who are your heroes (and why)?

I don't really have any any more, did as a kid, not anymore. I just tend to admire everyday people who do good but don't get noticed, not that I know any nor do I think they are at all common. Obviously I love many, many fictional characters but I know not to get carried away thinking about them.
I guess the closest I've got is Ricky Gervais. Just cos of his intelligence and seemingly childfree and non marriaged nature.

My hero was and still is my dad. He allways knew what to say and do. I wanted to be grow up and learn everything he had to teach.
    "I put the fires out."
    "you made them worse."
    "worse...or better?"

Do fictional heroes count? If so, Jack Bauer.

Everyone who dies for other than themselves get my greatest respect and are most deserving of the term hero.

I also consider Yukio Mishima as a very special person, kind of a personal hero.

Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls.

She's completely unafraid to be who she is and who she wants to be. Her music sounds imperfect, yet it is perfect for its cause. She is imperfect, yet perfect for her cause. Her heart is open to many people and thing, but she'll keep her strong opinions and words.

I honestly hadn't had a "hero" for a long time. I didn't think i respected anyone i didn't have direct contact with enough for such a thing, but i do. This woman is grounded and doing what she loves, while remaining true to herself. She doesn't feign happiness or hide hurt. I love her for it.
Hang on traveling woman - Don't sacrifice your plan
Cause it will come back to you - Before you lose it on the man

I'm not sure if I have one. At the moment, anyway.

I think I can safely say that a few of my friends are heroes in the making. I mean, they're still in their early 20's, so they haven't done a whole lot yet.

But they are going to go and do completely awesome things. I just know it.

^ That's cool if you see that. I had one friend I thought of that way. He's a successful painter now (kind of hard in this day and age too).. anyways, cool guy, probably one of my heroes.

I don't think I've ever had any. I guess I've admired people but it's never been something long-lasting or lifechanging.
