Thank you, Marmalade. I was thrown off by the way she arranged the words but didn't want to become pedantic about grammatical use of the word. It is clear Silk doesn't use the "F bomb" often enough to know where to place it in that phrase.

I pondered for a moment on whether or not I should correct her on proper usage, then considered linking to George Carlin's guide, but decided against it.

See "fat cunt" works, "fucking cunt" works, "you are fucking fat" works, as well as a million other variations. But this:

For example, sometimes NFs on this forum are irritated by words that NTs use, even though the NTs in reality intended no malice, and were just giving factual reports of their thoughts. In a more literary example, we can look to authors like Lewis Carroll and Jeff Noon - authors who create words - to begin to understand that it isn't merely the words themselves, but the meaning assigned to them. I've also always been a fan of using words for their musical, rhythmic, and image-evoking value rather than words being used for strictly literal meaning. A lot of misunderstandings occur IRL because people assign subjective value to words and often don't stop to ask for clarity before reacting or becoming offended or upset.

It really depends on the person and your understanding of different sub-cultural texts. It also depends on your sense of humor - mine tends to be pretty black, and has been quite dark since the age of ten or so only increasing with age - and so the words "fat fucking cunt" can be used in a story context very humorously, and believe me I've seen it done repeatedly.

Also, keep in mind that there are plenty people who have a theatrical side to their personality and tend to joke around and play-act with certain people who are familiar with the game, who understand and play along, in real life interactions.

I could be wrong but I have a feeling that you're someone who is easily offended by coarse joking, has trouble discerning dark or absurd humor, and tends to communicate with people who almost always speak seriously.
We probably have to agree to disagree on the meaning of words etc. I have a pretty wide variety of acquaintances, so I wouldn't say the above (last para) is necessarily true. I'm quite fond of absurd humour, actually, but it varies. I do have places where I draw the line, affectionate use of words which are traditionally highly insulting is probably one of them.

I suppose to a certain extent it depends on the context, but I just don't agree with "words have no meaning at all despite what you personally use them for."

I'm used to being called hyper-serious. I've always preferred it to the opposite extreme, as I think life is serious and should be taken seriously.

Some of this may have to do with the difference between IxxJ and ExxP.

As for any connection with the pornification of women, no, I don't see that at all.

The whole "bitchology" is something I would expect to see with sparkles on someone's tacky myspace page. It's great to say it's empowering and we can all be awesome bitches but most of it is just stupid. It's a way to say that someone doesn't have to control how they act as long as they can relabel it as "bitchy". I assume the same people would have "No Drama!!!!" signs all over too.

Also, calling every female a "bitch" doesn't make a lot of sense, because then you lose any meaning to it. If everyone is a bitch then just stfu about how awesome you are because you are one.

    It's embarrassing.

LOL, there are "no drama" signs? I haven't been on myspace in years.

Losing it's meaning is kinda the purpose.

I'm a unique snowflake just like everyone else.

Interesting censorship choice! Personally, I find "cunt" offensive. "fucking" not so much. "Fat" merely descriptive. Chalk it up to cultural diffs.

That kinda messed with me to when I read it didn't recognize why until now. The word cunt doesn't flow well at dinner parties.

Regardless I find the partial censorship of the lesser of the two improper words rather inspiring. Must make a mental note to purposely imitate/steal this technique. ***rubbing hands in anticipation***

Just curious: Is using the word cunt in the UK less controversial or shocking than it is in North America? That is what I have been led to believe.

From what I understand cunt is more commonly used in the UK, and while we find words like shag and bloody mostly silly, some Brits find those words very offensive.

Which proves my point about meaning assigned...

I've always found it interesting that women who aren't offended by "anything" are likely to be offended by cunt. I really didn't hear the word until I was an adult and it had no connotations associated with it until then so it really means nothing to me.

Bloody shags are pretty offensive, but otherwise I think you've been misinformed.

You've probably never heard it used in anger.

It's pretty illogical that any word is imbued with the power to offend. Speaking personally, it's usually the intention/emotion behind words that creates offense, not words themselves.
