This is rather what I would not like to see. It just doesn't even make sense in the context of a compliment or useful criticism.

How it comes across is just a chance to abuse anonymity and have someone "safely" say something that has bugged them for a bit, rather than engaging a person in a friendly positive conversation either in PM or in the public forums.

But I suppose that point has already come up.

The "critique someone's type" can be a little touchy, but in general those discussions seem to be okay, depending on the intent of those involved. If we're doing it to learn, that's a positive thing. I know I have learned a lot just from some of the conversations we've had here about type identification, whether they were about me, or Eco (for example), or others -- experiencing someone's type in reality can shed a lot of light on how theory should be applied, correcting one's misperceptions of what a particular type "has to look like."

Probably because it's neither. Criticism can be used to better a person, but it can also be used as a way to vent frustration and move on. Unless the criticism is so hurtful and malicious, it has an overall effect of decreasing tension in a group.

Oh, stop making everything so complicated. (Even if it's a good point.)

Young man, are those X-ray Specs? I'd say so -- I'm wearing a bra made out of money.

The glasses don't let me see through money, but my Buddhist training definitely helps.
