I disagree. Broad personality categories, irrespective of MBTI, are inclined to certain uses of speech (in this case, text), as well as interaction styles. It's difficult to not notice these patterns.

Biographical disclosure is contemplated as well. On that, your reservation over truthfulness is only partial. You suggest accepting a claim even if it may not be accurate. If a poster could very well be misrepresenting himself, why assume verity and encourage the wrong identification? Because to question -- to be vocally skeptical -- is "inconsiderate." Given that we are throwing around letters and numbers, and nothing more, that needs some explanation.

If you want to see egregious abuse of type, head to INTPCentral. The funniest instance of mine involved a squirrelly guy named Joft who tried to overturn a point I was making solely on grounds that I was "an INFJ."

I would have been all kinds of livid if someone did that to me. Why invoke God over a little clutter? I could see if it was a bunch of porno mags, but music, etc? Somebody needs to get a hobby.

i'd have just shrugged and left a note suggesting they use such a powerful gift for observation to fight crime.

I wish you'd been there. That could have been interesting. (I would have only been in my early/mid 20's at the time -- far more neurotic than I am now. )

The sucky part is, I think they were actually just trying to be helpful, in their own special way.

well, since anon is clearly zoomed in most on messes and things that are obvious, i'd play to that strength, and leave it where he/she did.

could you imagine -- little white-haired ladies in stiff polyester dresses collapsing in the aisles? What a scandal!

I'd get another nasty note, I know that for sure.

I'm getting a totally different mental picture because of my religious background. The little white-haired ladies collapsing in the aisles is just part of the prayer service and porn on the piano wouldn't result in a nasty note. There would have been a meeting with the offender, the pastor, and the board of deacons. There would have been stern looks, anointing with oil (usually extra virgin olive oil), laying on of hands, and loud praying in tongues accompanied the occasional accidental sprinkling of spit. Notes are suddenly not so bad . . .
