1150. Yeah, that's right, I just admitting to having the lowest score in the thread so far. That just means mine is HUGE 'cause I'm so, like, confident and stuff.

It was the same for me. I was pissed, because i got one of the highest SAT scores in my school, but colleges were rejecting me left and right. I applied to Harvard and Yale as well lol but they definitely didn't want me, not that i could ever afford to go to college anyway.

Why do y'all think that the schools were rejecting such high SATS?
(I'm just curious as to what the schools are looking for nowadays.)

What a disappointment to do so well and then not see it pan out.

I ended up attending Lafayette College (it's usually on the top 50 or so list of private liberal arts college in the country -- so right under the ivy leagues it aspires to be part of). I got into there and Penn State U (main campus) without really trying, with only my 1290, but didn't place at Princeton or Harvard.

I took it once, no prep. Actually, I don't think anyone at my school 'prepped' for it - I think it was back in the day where people just took it because that's what you do. 'Prepping' didn't even occur to me, although I'm fairly confident I would have done better had I 'prepped'.

    1340 total, 630 english, 710 math.

Like Roger Mexico, I was national merit commended for psat.

i think they rejected me because my grades weren't as spectacular as they wanted them to be. I had a 3.3 grade point average. Also i didn't have a whole lot of extracurricular activities. I got into all the colleges i applied to in Texas, but everywhere else in the US rejected me, or at least the 5 colleges i applied to outside of Texas, except for University of Arkansas accepted me as well.

I agree, I'm actually a bit surprised. There are some super high scores being posted here, I would have thought they'd get people into any school. But I'd imagine schools place high value on high school grades too...so if the two don't line up, maybe that's one possible reason.

Also, back in 95 they re-centered the scores, so maybe there are just a lot more people getting high scores these days? Eh, that probably has nothing to do with it; distribution of scores would have stayed the same.

    Ptgatsby, any thoughts?

I applied to one (1) college and got in. There was really only one (1) college I wanted to go to at the time, and it was Virginia Tech.

They had a really good engineering program and a one-page application form.
