It's a weird system, but it works well enough, we've got amazing health care over here and everything is standardized enough to make it easy for every body. It is expensive though.
    1200 a month?

I pay 160ish a month and get like 45 or so back. You should get a better health insurance.

So let me get this straight. Unless I submit my private information to a private company, I'm going to be billed for $744 a year. Awesome.

And besides, shouldn't I have the freedom to choose whether or not I even want insurance in the first place? Apparently we're not allowed to take that kind of risk.
my Uni did that too recently (private). I think they did it merely as a way to get more money (figuring enough idiots wont submit their proof of other insurance on time).

    Make sure it's not phishing.

I really wish someone would make a company named "WTF Insurance" - that's what I think it's about when I see the subject of this thread.

I thought all public universities in America did that. It seems to be a lesser-known rule regarding college, but when I was in school it wasn't seen as anything out of the ordinary. Although, this issue has made the talk radio rounds lately...

Ah, okay, 160 a month is totally reasonable. Perhaps he meant "year".
