What are you supposed to do with them beyond that?
All sorts of things! Prop up the scratch thing for my cat, cut them up and use them as bookmarks, reuse them, burn them for fun, make tents for an imaginary tiny village. Either that or I put them down, forget about them, and stumble across them 3 years later.

I have three kinds of storage - a box for memories, a box for ideas and interesting articles, and then storage for the bills etc. That way I can kinda keep the chaos organized, keeping so much rather than tossing.
I've herited the habit (from my lovely Fi-dom mother of course) of keeping everything I consider to have "sentimental value": christmas cards, birthday cards, baskets, vases, instruments, figurines, shirts, scarves, purses, cloth dolls, creepy porcelain dolls, etc
It's why I'm a pack rat. Throw them out! Do what I couldn't.
Crap! (no pun intended) That's me too!
I keep everything... everything that has an ounce of sentimental value... and then, when I'm moving (I've moved a lot in the past 6 years) I'm forced to chuck dozens of kilos of stuff and feel 'new' and 'reborn' for a while... then the feeling disappears and I end up feeling guilty for weeks afterwards.
