Right now, I'm loving the Toulouse accent. So delightfully melodic. The 'posh' Southern accent runs a close second.

African? Seriously? 52 countries? One distinct accent?

German accents remind me of my grandparents (who didn't sound "harsh" to me at all) , so I have positive associations.
Interesting. Perhaps it's because the first two people with Russian accents I knew IRL were women. And my old math professor is a man, also not scary at all - kind of intense, but nice and smart and helpful.

Wherever my African professor was from. I'm not sure where it was, do you know? Should I make up a country?

Also, I have liked every accent I've heard from the African continent, I think.

A lady with a softly spoken french accent to her english. Probably has french as her first language. Met one or two and they have made me swoon (even if they normally light up a gitanes and drink coffee you could coat roads with )

He was probably Kenyan, like me.

I take it you've yet to hear a South African accent...

Scots of course , the irish don't do to badly, I quite like some south african, mellower French although not always.

Depends. Is his accent reminiscent of nails on a chalkboard? If so, you got yourself a bona fide S. African there.
