Wow, people voted against aussie? Most americans I know love it.

And as I said, new england should be on there for american accents. Or is that "yankee"? I take it someone who isn't from the US made this poll? Most americans don't even use those terms.

Clearly, a Frenchy made the poll.

Most of those terms are familiar to me, except it's very evident that an American did not make the poll considering they referred to a Southern accent as a "Texan" accent.

I don't care for most Northern US accents. Can't stand the really flat vowel sounds, and the cadence is often jarring, rather than soothing.

I love Australian accents. I love a guy with a nice, slow Texas drawl. I sometimes have a Southern accent and sometimes don't--I grew up without one since I did theatre a lot, but I have a tendency to pick up what I hear around me. I prefer not to have a discernable accent, though.

Yeah, they slipped that one in under the radar.

It's almost fighting words. Gosh, depending who reads this, it could start an international incident.

    On an unrelated note:

Why do people hate Aussie accents?

Oh, well, maybe Ft. Worth can send them more of that Australian beer to soothe them or something.

Yeah the terms are, but the terms aren't actually the names US accents. What in the world is a "yankee accent" - is that everyone in the north? We all don't have even remotely similar accents. Did the midwest accent or the north west or the north east not make the poll?

I've did it on purpose, to prevent US narcissism.

American people here must understand they're not the center of the English-speaking world, and that however varied they think they are, for foreigners, their US accents may sound somewhat similar, at least compared to accents heard in other English speaking countries.
