I've got more competence than I once gave myself credit for, but it doesn't mean I have to do everything. It's okay to relax and coast sometimes.

People in my family keep asking me this. This year I've been in a purging mode, trying to get rid of stuff I'm hanging onto but don't use enough to justify keeping, cleaning out the proverbial cobwebs as it were (mentally as well, it's kind of a life fractal or something). So, while I would never be so ungrateful as to say I don't want a gift someone has given me, I have no answer for the "what do you want for Christmas?" question. Besides a peaceful and positive holiday season.

(I plan to buy myself a new laptop with my next paycheck and give this one to my spinster aunt, though.)

    1) What is the most important thing you've learnt this year ?
Sometimes you have to be a bitch in order to get things done. Took me long enough.

    2) What's the one thing you would you do differently next year.

    Trust myself more.

    3) And all you'd want for Christmas, is . . ?

    Season two of Firefly.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

    Freedom.

    Season two of Firefly.
That's not a bad idea. If we're talking about material things, I want a lot more than one thing!

Cell phone, sparkle lamp, new clothes, and while I'm at it the first season of Firefly. I KNOW I can think of more! Stay tuned!

Edit: What the heck, I'll answer the other questions too.

What is the most important thing you've learnt this year?
I really don't know. *thinks* College stinks, lol.

What's the one thing you would you do differently next year.
Put myself first, if I can. Not wear myself out for others.

I have really good reasons to maintain the unrealistic hope that Christmas might not come this year... oh well, I guess there's no real chance.

    1. Difficult to phrase it succinctly. All the effort in the world is a waste without genuine knowledge of self. "Do not try to bend the spoon--that's impossible. Rather, only try to realize the truth--there is no spoon. Then you will see it is not the spoon that bends; it is only yourself."

    2. At the moment I'm considering attempt #4 to give up cigarettes.

    3. I saw this on a T-shirt and actually thought it was rather clever--"All I want is peace in the Middle East... and a blowjob." Kind of where I'm at at the moment.

However, I think I'd like to pick up the new Thrice album. I haven't been getting much new music lately, and I'm starting to pine for new soundscapes in which to lose myself.
