    Default Multiple diversions

I often will play a game, watch TV or listen to music at the same time, I can read and have the TV on at the same time and follow what's going in each medium alright, unless the reading material is more absorbing or demanding in which case I might put aside the TV and music and focus on it only.

I wondered if anyone else did this or if its unusual?

I do this, but it definitely depends on the circumstance heh. If i'm writing, i like a backdrop of music. If i'm chatting or reading things online, i can be watching something at the same time.
However, i have a lot of difficulty trying to focus on something written if someone else is talking to me or if i have an actual book in front of me. Those are times where i need to focus on one thing.

A lot of my friends can function like that.

to be clear - you both watch the television and read simultaneously?
to be clear - you can hear both the music and the television clearly?

I can't multi-task very well. I can barely read a book and not zone out at the same time (and have to re-read pages over and over).

I was sitting in a bus a long time ago and there were two conversations going on, one in English, one in Finnish. I focused on eavesdropping the English conversation which was further away from me and for a moment I could hear the Finnish words without understanding them. It was quite interesting to hear how it sounds without being bothered by the meaning of the words.

I never managed to do it again, as the opportunities to practice this are limited.

I've nearly stopped listening to music because it's too much of a distraction while I'm doing anything else (reading, homework). The only way I like to listen to music is lying in bed doing nothing, but that gets boring. So, no music. I can't stand doing more than one thing at a time.

I can't multitask at all. I even have trouble PMing 2 people at one time. Just ask around and you'll find it's true.

I don't even listen to music while I'm on the computer because it distracts me. I simply can't have 2 or more things going at one time.

I have a very difficult time trying to do more than one thing at a time. If I try, I end up ignoring one thing or the other, forget to finish something I was in the middle of, etc.
